Attractions

  • Bess Streeter Aldrich House.
  • El Museo Latino.  "El Museo Latino opened its doors on May 5, 1993 as the first Latino museum in Nebraska. The museum is located at 4701 South 25 Street in Omaha, Nebraska. As Nebraska's only Latino art and history museum, El Museo Latino exhibits the works by local, national and international artists.

In conjunction to the exhibits, El Museo Latino develops educational programs that include lectures, slide presentaions, films, art classes, workshops, demonstrations, art history classes, gallery talks, guided visits, and dance classes. Some of the programs are age specific for K-12, some for post secondary students, and others are for an adult audience. In addition, El Museo Latino is a resource and a center for Latino studies in the Midwest."
  • Fremont & Elkhorn Valley Railroad.  "Come relive a portion of our nation's history aboard the FEVR in rail cars dating from the 1920's! The Fremont & Elkhorn Valley Railroad is Nebraska's longest and largest tourist railroad. The path of this track was laid out in 1869, and until the mid-1980's served as the gateway route for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad to northern Nebraska, Wyoming and South Dakota. The route to Wyoming was known as the "Cowboy Line" and is now being converted to a trail."

  • Joslyn Art Museum.  "The Joslyn Art Museum has served as a premier center for the visual arts since it opened in 1931. Nebraska's only fine arts museum with an encyclopedic permanent collection, Joslyn features works from antiquity to the present with a special emphasis on 19th- and 20th-century art from Europe and America.

Designed as a cultural center for the community, the museum was built as a gift to Omaha from Sarah Joslyn in memory of her husband George, a prominent Omaha businessman and community leader. The building remains a monument to their commitment to the arts."
  • Omaha Children’s Museum.  "Founded in 1976 as a traveling workshop, the Omaha Children's Museum has grown into a special place where children can challenge themselves, discover how the world works, and learn through play. It is Omaha's only participatory museum, a place where children and adults can learn and play together. The Museum provides an ever-changing series of interactive exhibits, workshops, and special events. It serves the entire community as well as school groups and a large minority audience."
  • Strategic Air & Space Museum.  "The Strategic Air & Space Museum is regarded as the nation's foremost facility of its kind, the $29.5 million museum opened on May 16, 1998, and preserves aircraft and missiles for future generations. The Museum is a 300,000 square foot building that features a glass atrium, two aircraft display hangars, a traveling exhibit area, a children's interactive gallery, a 200-seat theater, a Museum store, an aircraft restoration gallery, and a snack bar."
  • The Union Pacific Railroad Museum.  "The Union Pacific Railroad Museum houses one of the oldest corporate collections in the nation. It includes artifacts, photographs and documents that trace the development of the railroad and the American West. The Collection dates to the mid-1800's, featuring original editions of reports from survey teams that searched for the best land route to join the nation, east to west. Surveying equipment, early rail equipment, and artifacts from the construction of the nation's first transcontinental railroad tell the story of one of the world's construction marvels."
