In keeping with these cultural precepts, I have the distinct privilege, on behalf of the people of American Samoa, to welcome you to our group of seven islands known as American Samoa. We are in a very unique position. As Samoans, we have clung fast to our traditions and way of life. As a Territory of the United States, we have gained access to all of the modern conveniences and foods. Visitors to our islands will have the rate privilege of experiencing our way of life, while simultaneously maintaining the same standard and level of comfort and convenience."
